What does your fee include? My fee includes a complimentary consultation. I'll answer any questions you may have for me and also talk about you, the wedding you want, and what you'd like from me. I have a pre-written ceremony script I utilize for ceremonies that can be customized to fit the ceremony you would like to have if you choose. I'll ask you some questions and listen to your ideas about what you feel is important -- like, What type of wedding are you having? Is there a theme? Are there any sub-rituals you are doing? Would you like to include any special readings? I will travel to the ceremony venue within 20-miles of ANTIOCH, CA 94509. and arrive approximately 30 minutes before the ceremony start time to avoid travel delays and to consult with the any coordinators if needed. I will then perform the exact ceremony we’ve discussed in a professional manner. If the Ceremony includes sub-rituals such as a Sand Ceremony, Unity Candle, or any other special feature, you, the client, are responsible for furnishing all equipment needed. I will then sign and submit the Marriage License with the County Clerk, either in person or by Mail.
Do you do rehearsals? I am open to doing rehearsals depending on availability and distance. WHY ARE YOUR FEES SO LOW?! IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOU? I know, I know that’s dirt cheap, but that’s because you’re getting a beginning officiant who just wants to watch words and gestures come to life for love. I’m actually not interested in the financial aspect, just the creative part. In venturing through the many different styles and themes out there, the theatrical part of making the Ceremony come to life is what I really want to do.
How long are your ceremonies? The standard length of a ceremony is normally short and sweet and last 10-15 minutes but of course if you want to add any sub-rituals and/or say your own vows it may run up to 30 minutes, totally your call how long or short you want the ceremony.
Where does the initial meeting take place? I'd prefer to look for a coffee shop that is midway between and mutually convenient for us to get together. That way there is a table and chairs, not to mention Wi-Fi. A side benefit it that there is always fresh coffee and snacks available.
What Authorization/Credentials do you have for performing Wedding Ceremonies? In the state of California, a Wedding Officiant is someone who is ordained by an approved organization and therefore authorized by the state to formally conduct officially recognized wedding ceremonies and to certify the marriage license. I am Ordained and Certified by the Universal Life Church.
Do you do Religious or non-Religious wedding ceremonies? I do both. The Universal Life church does not espouse any particular dogma other than their motto, “We are all children of the same universe”.
How far are you willing to travel? My standard fee includes travel within twenty (20)-miles of Antioch CA 94509. 21-60 mile is a flat fee of $50 61+ miles can be discussed.
What is your payment schedule? I only require a $10 retainer, and though it is still very low, I ask that you don't screw me and cancel at the last minute. Retainer fees may be made electronically via PAYPAL, CASH or by CHECKS made out to Bre-Ariyaun Kalilikane. I will, however require the full balance of any unpaid fees including travel fees if applicable, entrance fees if applicable, etc, before services have been rendered. Payments other than the Retainer shall be made by PAYPAL, Check, or Cash two (2) weeks before your Wedding Ceremony.
How does the marriage license work? The two of you will need to go together to the County Clerk’s office and apply in person. Call ahead to find out if you need an appointment and what you need to bring with you. You can get your license at any County Clerk in California and have the ceremony anywhere in California. Be sure to bring the license to the wedding ceremony. After the Ceremony I will be sure that the witnesses sign it unless it is a Confidential License which does not require a witness and perfect for Elopements or Surprise Weddings. I will then complete the form with my credential information and sign it as well. It is the officiant’s legal obligation to submit the license back to the same County Clerk where it was issued, within ten days.
Do you use a contract? Yes, I have a Wedding Agreement that simply spells out what my responsibilities are and what yours are as well.
What if the wedding doesn’t start on time? Fifteen or twenty minutes is not a problem and I can accommodate for weddings that start later than scheduled, as time permits. I however may have other professional and personal commitments scheduled after the ceremony. If the wedding starts more than an hour late, there may be extra charges involved. If possible please give me the time that you actually expect the ceremony to take place so that I can accurately schedule around it. In some extreme cases the I may not be able to stay and complete the wedding.
Should we invite you to the reception? It is really nice of you to think of me but I will politely decline. I won’t know anyone there besides the two of you, and it’s a time for you to celebrate with your family and friends.
